Travelling with a cat..?
I will be going on a 22 hour ferry ride soon. I have a one year old cat going with me. I do have a carrier for her of course- but this ferry will not let you bring the carriers into the staterooms with you. So she will have to be in the luggage area for the whole time. What I am concerned about is having her be able to potty & such. On top of the 22 hour ferry ride, we will have one more 3 and a half hour ferry ride about an hour after we dock from the first one. Are there any suggestions on what I should do? Kitty downers? I am really uneasy about having her harnessed and walk her at docks because I'm scared she'll run off.

Oh- I guess I should have added that we will be moving -so leaving her at home isn't an option.

I would ask the vet before you give it anything. I have heard of certain meds you can give them, but you need to get the dosage right.
Perhaps getting a larger carrier, so she will have lots of room would be worth the cost. That way she could keep her food away from her 'mess'. Also, placing a towel in there will help with any mess she does make. I probably wouldnt put any food in the carrier, just water. Cats can get sick with the motion sometimes (it is worse if they have just eaten).
I wouldn't worry too much - cats can go for long periods of time without food and water, so I'm sure a day will be alright. Maybe you can go visit her during the trip - that way you can check up on her.
